The Estate
The Lochoir Estate on the Isle of Coll

Owing to diversity of habitat the estate has the greatest variety of birds on the island from Goldcrests and Water Rails to Hen Harriers and Nightjars. We have a thriving heronry in one of the woods
We have a small fold of Highland cattle who roam the 'empty quarter', an extensive area across the estuary which also contains the prettiest loch on the Island.
Special to us is Friskery. This is an ancient natural harbour that was used from Viking times until the early twentieth century when the peat diggers came from Tiree. It is to be featured in a series on television about Scotland's ancient past. There have been several recent archaeological digs. The rocky coastline there provides stunning walks, and nesting sites for raptors, we can direct you how to get there.
We have hills within easy walking distance from the accommodation from where you can get stunning views across the sea to Barra, South Uist, Skye, the small isles and round to the mainland, on a clear day it is possible to see Ben Nevis before you sweep round to the mountains of Glen Coe, the Isle of Mull and Iona with the Treshnish Isles and Jura in the distance.
We can show you to the best places on which lochs to catch the elusive brown trout.
